Warranty Information
Every installation is backed by our workmanship warranty and the manufacturer's product warranty. If you ever have a concern, you do not file anything. You schedule a visit. We handle the rest.
The Auto Cosmetics Promise
You never deal with the manufacturer
Our customers do not file warranty claims. They schedule a visit. We take care of everything else.
If you notice anything that concerns you about your installation, reach out. We inspect the vehicle, address the concern, and if the issue involves a product defect, we deal with the manufacturer directly. You do not file paperwork, submit photos to a warranty department, or wait on hold with anyone. Your relationship is with us. That is the whole point.
Every installation carries two separate warranties that work together behind the scenes:
Coverage Type 1
Installation Workmanship
Issued by Auto Cosmetics. Covers how the product was installed: edges, adhesion, alignment, and application.
Coverage Type 2
Manufacturer Product Warranty
Issued by the film or coating manufacturer. Covers the product itself: yellowing, cracking, delamination, and fading.
You do not need to know which warranty applies to your concern. When you come in, we figure that out. If it is our workmanship, we fix it. If it is a product defect, we replace it and handle the manufacturer coordination on our end.
What Your Warranty Covers
Your warranty covers two things: product failure and installation defects. It does not cover damage caused by outside forces. This distinction matters, because the films we install are designed to absorb that damage on purpose.
Covered
Product failure & installation defects
- Yellowing and discoloration
- Cracking and crazing of the product
- Blistering and bubbling
- Peeling and delamination
- Loss of hydrophobic performance
- Edge lifting from our installation
- Trapped air bubbles from our installation
- Contamination under the film (dust, hair, debris)
- Misalignment, uneven edges, or adhesion failure
Not Covered
Damage from outside forces
- Rock chips and road debris impact
- Scratches, scuffs, and gouges from outside forces
- Collision, accidental damage, or vandalism
- Fire, hail, flood, and natural disasters
- Water spots from hard water or mineral deposits
- Damage from improper washing or abrasive tools
- Damage from harsh chemicals or solvents
- Damage to the paint or glass beneath the film
- Non-automotive applications
The Most Important Concept
PPF and windshield film are sacrificial by design.
These films exist to absorb impact so your paint and glass do not have to. A rock chip in your PPF or a star crack in your windshield film is the film doing exactly what it was engineered to do. That kind of damage is not a warranty event, it is a success story. When the film has absorbed enough damage to need replacement, that is a new service, not a warranty repair.
If you are unsure whether what you are seeing is a defect or impact damage, bring the vehicle in. We will tell you.
How Your Warranty Works
The process is simple by design. Four steps. No forms, no claim numbers, no back-and-forth with a warranty department you did not choose to do business with.
Your Vehicle Number
The booking form requires your Vehicle Number, which you can find on your paid invoice under "Vehicle Information." If you cannot locate your invoice, we can look up your vehicle number by your name and installation date.
Coverage Duration at a Glance
Warranty length varies by the product you select. Here is the complete coverage comparison across every film and coating we install.
Paint Protection Film

Windshield Protection Film
Durations shown reflect manufacturer product warranties. Installation workmanship warranty is included separately. All warranties are conditional on following the care instructions we provide at time of service.
Paint Protection Film Warranty
Our PPF manufacturer warranties cover defects including yellowing, cracking, blistering, and delamination. The specific film installed on your vehicle is on your invoice, and we keep that record on file.
What Is Covered
- Yellowing and discoloration caused by manufacturing defects
- Cracking and crazing not caused by impact damage
- Blistering and bubbling from material failure
- Delamination from the paint surface
- Failure of the self-healing topcoat to function as specified
Ceramic Coating Warranty
We install System X ceramic coatings in two warranty tiers. Both tiers include our installation workmanship warranty and the System X manufacturer product warranty.
Third-Party Validation · Max G+
The Max G+ formulation has been independently tested and certified by Boeing and SGS, two of the most respected third-party testing organizations in the world. Boeing BSS7432 measures resistance to aviation fluids, fuels, and deicing chemicals. SGS HVO05912 measures durability, hydrophobic performance, and weathering. Your Coverage
Your specific warranty duration is on your invoice, and we keep that record on file. Annual inspections are required on every ceramic coating package to maintain warranty coverage.
What Is Covered
- Loss of hydrophobic performance before the warranty period ends
- UV-related gloss degradation beyond expected levels
- Coating failure due to manufacturing defects
- Installation defects including high spots and application errors
Annual Inspection Requirement
To keep your ceramic coating warranty valid, all installations require an annual inspection and maintenance wash at our shop. The annual inspection is $89 and must be completed before your installation anniversary each year.
Scheduling the annual inspection is your responsibility. We do not send reminders. Mark your calendar based on your installation date and book your inspection before the one-year mark. If you miss the window, warranty coverage lapses for the remainder of the term.
Follow the product care instructions between inspections to protect your coverage.
Window Tint Warranty
We install three ceramic window films from LLumar, STEK, and 3M. All three carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty. Coverage transfers to subsequent vehicle owners subject to each manufacturer's transfer requirements.
What Is Covered
- Fading and discoloration
- Bubbling and blistering
- Peeling and delamination
- Cracking
- Loss of adhesion not caused by abrasion or damage
Transferability
The manufacturer's product warranty transfers to subsequent vehicle owners for the remainder of the original coverage period, subject to LLumar's, STEK's, or 3M's transfer requirements depending on the film installed. The new owner must submit proof of the original installation date to activate coverage.
Our installation workmanship warranty does not transfer. It applies only to you as the original owner of the vehicle.
Windshield Protection Film Warranty
ExoShield windshield protection film carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in material and workmanship. The film is sacrificial by design and protects the glass beneath it.
What Is Covered
- Defects in material (delamination, adhesion failure, clarity issues)
- Defects in manufacturing and workmanship
- Premature yellowing or haze beyond expected wear
Installation Workmanship Warranty
Our lifetime workmanship warranty covers installation defects for as long as you, the original owner, own your vehicle. This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original vehicle owner on the installation invoice.
It covers issues that result from our installation process, separate from any material defects covered by the manufacturer.
What We Cover
- Edge lifting caused by incorrect application technique
- Air bubbles trapped during installation
- Visible contamination under the film (dust, hair, debris)
- Misalignment or uneven edges
- Film or coating application errors
- Poor adhesion resulting from inadequate surface preparation
30-Day Free Inspection Window
If you notice anything concerning within the first 30 days, bring the vehicle back at no charge. Small curing artifacts like water pockets are normal. If something is not right, we make it right.
What Is Not Covered
Warranty coverage is limited to product failure and installation defects. The following are not covered under any warranty, ours or the manufacturer's. This is the standard across the industry and reflects the fact that films and coatings are protective layers, not invincible shields.
- Damage caused by outside forces, including the physical impact of rocks, road debris, or any object striking the film.
- Damage from collision, accidental damage, vandalism, fire, hail, flood, surface rust, rail dust, or paint overspray. These may be covered under your vehicle insurance or manufacturer protection plan.
- Scratches, scuffs, scrapes, and chips to the film surface.
- Stains, including those from bird droppings, tree sap, or contaminants left on the surface.
- Water spots caused by mineral deposits, hard water, or sprinkler water left to dry on the film or coating.
- Damage from improper wash techniques, automatic car washes with abrasive brushes, or incorrect wash tools.
- Damage from chemical abuse, including harsh cleansers, solvents, ammonia-based products, pigmented waxes, or petroleum-based compounds.
- Damage from thermal abuse or shock, including pressure washing at close range or extreme heat exposure.
- Products installed with known or visible defects at the time of installation, including scratches, scuffs, or chips to the painted surface beneath.
- Areas that have not been re-wrapped after a paint repair, body repair, or panel replacement.
- Damage to the paint, glass, or surface beneath the film. The warranty applies to the film or coating only, not what is underneath.
- Non-compliance with care instructions provided at time of service.
- Non-automotive applications.
- Unreasonable or unintended use of the product.
Reminder
The film taking damage means it is working.
A chip in your PPF, a star in your windshield film, or a scratch in your ceramic is evidence the product did its job. Those costs were going to happen to your paint or glass otherwise, and you would be paying for repaint or windshield replacement instead. The film absorbing them is the entire point. When it has taken enough damage to warrant replacement, schedule a new install.
Service-Specific Exclusions
Ceramic Coating: Etching from bird droppings, water spots, or contaminants left to dry on the surface. Damage from polishing, compounding, or clay bar use on treated surfaces.
Window Tint: Damage from glass breakage or replacement. Damage from window-mounted accessories with suction cups or adhesives. Factory privacy glass is not covered (we install film over clear glass only).
Windshield Protection Film: Rock chips, cracks, or star breaks in the film itself (sacrificial by design). Damage to the glass beneath the film, including cracks that propagate through the film. Damage from worn wiper blades, ice scrapers, or hydrophobic glass treatments.
If You Are Unsure
If you cannot tell whether what you are seeing is a warranty defect or impact damage, bring the vehicle in anyway. We would rather inspect it and tell you definitively than have you wonder. There is no cost for the inspection.
