First Real Tint in Tempe

Your car bakes in a Tempe lot all day. The fix is a spec, not a brand.

A huge share of the cars we tint for Tempe are getting their first serious film: a commuter that just moved here, a first car parked outside an apartment, a lease that came with bare glass. Asphalt lots around campus and the office parks hold heat past sunset, and dyed film from a strip mall does nothing about the infrared that actually cooks a cabin.

Nano ceramic film works differently. Ceramic particles reject infrared heat before it enters the glass, so the car you unlock at 5 PM is not the oven you left at 8 AM. The spec that predicts this is measured and published for every film we install, and you can compare all three tiers side by side right on this page.

Auto Cosmetics® is a specialty installation shop, not a counter with a heat lamp box. Installations happen indoors in climate controlled bays, on an appointment, with the price fixed online before you book.

Why It Matters Here

Tempe summers are a physics problem. Ceramic film is the physics answer.

More than 300 days of sun, dashboards over 160 degrees, and afternoon lots that radiate heat into the evening. This is what nano ceramic film does about it.

Cool-down you can time

An untinted car parked outside all afternoon takes the whole drive home to feel right. With up to 99% infrared rejection the AC wins in the first few minutes, even after a day on hot asphalt.

Sunscreen for your commute

99% of UV blocked at every shade, including nearly clear film. That is protection for the driver-side arm you cook on Broadway and the interior plastics that fade first.

Every signal untouched

No metal in the film means GPS, 5G, toll tags, and keyless entry work exactly as before. Glare on east-west runs into the sun drops noticeably.

Resale insurance

A cracked dash and baked seats are the first things a buyer or lease inspector sees. Blocking the sun now is cheaper than replacing an interior later.

Arizona Law, Applied

Legal darkness in Tempe, without the guesswork.

Tint law is statewide, so Tempe follows the same Arizona rules as everywhere else. We install to the legal limit by default and every shade quoted on this page is street legal.

Front side windows

More than 33% of light must pass through, which makes a 35% VLT shade the darkest legal choice up front.

Behind the driver

Any darkness is legal on rear side windows and the back windshield. A 35 front with 15 or 20 rear is the most common first-tint setup we install.

Windshield

Non-reflective film is allowed above the AS-1 line. For full coverage we install a 70% clear ceramic layer: real infrared rejection with no visible darkening, fully legal.

"During my first visit, I planned to stay through the entire tint installation, but they surprised me by ordering an Uber to take me home and bring me back when it was ready, at no cost. Hector and the team are excellent and guided me through various options. I will only trust this shop for window tint, PPF, or any other services they provide."

EEtozex · Tint + PPF customer★★★★★ Google review

"This is my FIFTH vehicle being taken to Auto Cosmetics for their professional touch. Vehicles continue to get more and more expensive so you want to use a shop that stands behind their work and only uses products they trust."

JMJoshua M. · 2026 VW Golf R, fifth vehicle★★★★★ Google review

"I love that their prices are very transparent on their website, so I knew exactly what I'd be paying without the hassle of waiting for a quote. They were able to move me up to an earlier appointment last minute. The whole process was smooth and easy. Highly recommend!"

Getting Here From Tempe

Closer than your coffee run: 10 minutes door to door

The shop sits at 500 N. 56th Street in Chandler, just off I-10 at Ray Road. From most of Tempe that is one straight run down the 101 or Rural Road. A proper ceramic tint install takes 4 to 5 hours, so drop off in the morning and pick up a cooler car the same afternoon.

South Tempe

About 8 minutes. Rural Road south or the 101 to Ray Road, whichever you prefer.

Downtown Tempe and ASU

10 to 12 minutes via the 101 south to Ray Road. Drop the car, ride back to campus or the office, pick it up cool.

West Tempe

Down Priest or Kyrene to Ray Road, about 12 minutes. No freeway needed.

North Tempe and the Lake

15 minutes down the 101. Pair drop-off with the commute and pick up on the way home.

Tesla Tint Tempe

Tesla glass is different. Our Tesla pricing is flat and published.

Tempe runs on Teslas, and Tesla glass is its own discipline: one-piece panoramic rear windshields, frameless doors, and electronics that rule out metal film. We tint Teslas every week at flat published prices, from $499.

One-piece panoramic rear

Model 3 and Model Y rear windshields are patterned and heat shrunk as a single panel, $349. No seams, no relief cuts.

Ceramic only, signal safe

No metal layer anywhere, so cameras, GPS, and connectivity behave exactly as Tesla built them.

Priced per model, online

Model 3, Y, S, X, and Cybertruck each carry published package prices on this page. Add PPF in the same visit if you want the paint covered too.

First Tint, Zero Pressure

Booking takes a minute and nothing up front.

If this is your first time tinting a car, the process is built to be easy: no card to book, no deposit for a standard installation, and payment happens at pickup once you have seen the work.

No card, no deposit

Standard installations book online with no card at all. Pick a time, drop the car, pay when you pick it up.

Old film comes off first

Bubbling purple tint from a previous owner is the most common starting point we see. Removal is quoted at drop off by condition and the new ceramic goes on the same visit.

Honest tiers

The entry film is a real nano ceramic, not a teaser. If your budget says start there, it will still embarrass dyed film. The comparison table above shows exactly what each step up buys.

Tempe Tint Questions

First-tint questions, answered straight

Who does ceramic window tint near Tempe with prices actually published?
We do, about 10 minutes from most of Tempe, just off I-10 at Ray Road in Chandler. Every package for every vehicle is priced on this page across three nano ceramic films, so your exact installed cost is known before anyone has your phone number.
How much does window tint cost in Tempe?
Ceramic tint for most vehicles starts at $499 with LLumar IRX, $599 with STEK Nex+, and $699 with 3M Ceramic IR, covering all side windows plus the rear windshield. A clear front windshield layer adds $299. Coupes run a little less, XL SUVs and crew cab trucks a little more, and the vehicle search above shows your exact number.
Do I need a credit card or deposit to book?
No. Standard installations take no card and no deposit. You book a time online, drop the car off, and pay at pickup after the final inspection.
What tint darkness is legal in Tempe?
Arizona law applies statewide: front side windows must pass more than 33% of light, so 35% is the darkest practical legal shade up front. Rear side windows and the rear windshield can be any darkness. Arizona allows a non-reflective visor strip on the windshield above the AS-1 line. We also install a clear 70% ceramic windshield film for heat and UV, from $279. That film does not look dark. We do not install dark windshield tint. Confirm what you want at booking.
Can you tint a leased car?
Yes. Professionally installed film can be professionally removed before turn-in without harming factory glass, and many drivers keep it on for the whole lease since the next owner usually wants it anyway.
What shade should I pick for a first tint?
The most common setup we install is 35% on the front side windows, the legal limit, with 15 or 20% behind the driver for a factory-matched look. Heat rejection comes from the ceramic, not the darkness, so even lighter shades block the same UV and most of the same infrared.
Can you remove my old purple, bubbling tint first?
Yes. Removal is quoted at drop off based on the condition of the old film, and the new ceramic film is installed in the same visit.
Do you install SunTek or carbon tint in Tempe?
No. We install three nano-ceramic films, all priced on this page from $499. We do not stock SunTek or carbon film. Ceramic is what we use for Arizona heat because it rejects infrared without metal in the film.
